Earning more than half a billion VND per year from raising hybrid Dong Tao chickens

Realizing that the hybrid Dong Tao chicken breed has many advantages and a favorable consumption market, Mr. Dao Van Nam in Dao Xa village, Nghia Dan commune (Kim Dong) has invested in developing the model, bringing in about 2 billion VND in revenue each year.

Nam said: With the desire to get rich from my homeland, I have traveled to many places to consult and learn about effective economic models in and outside the province. Realizing that the hybrid Dong Tao chicken breed has many advantages, is easy to care for, has competitive prices and a favorable consumption market, in 2009, I invested in building over 150m2 of closed barns and bought 1,000 breeding chickens to raise in the direction of commercial chickens and breeding chickens. As a result, the model generated profits from the first year, so I continued to invest in expansion.

Dao Van Nam takes care of the Dong Tao hybrid chicken flock

Up to now, on the farm with an area of 1,800m2, Nam regularly maintains a total flock of 5,000 - 6,000 chickens/year, of which 10% are chickens for gifts, the rest are commercial chickens and laying hens. On average, a year, the market is supplied with 13 tons of Dong Tao hybrid commercial chickens, 2 tons of gift chickens and from 70,000 to 100,000 breeding chickens. Annual revenue is about 2 billion VND, after deducting costs, the profit is 500 to 700 million VND.

To achieve such success, Nam has strictly applied the chicken farming process according to VietGAP standards. Accordingly, the chickens are fully vaccinated against diseases, supplemented with vitamins to increase resistance when the weather changes. Along with proactively preventing and fighting diseases for chickens, Nam strictly follows the process of keeping the breeding area clean, periodically spraying disinfectants, and ensuring environmental hygiene. Regarding nutrition, in addition to using animal feed from reputable manufacturers, Nam focuses on adding rice, corn and some agricultural by-products to help chickens absorb well, digest well, avoid intestinal diseases and have more delicious meat quality.

Although he has a lot of experience in raising chickens, Nam is always conscious of researching and learning to update his knowledge and breeding techniques by referring to many books and newspapers; participating in training courses on transferring science and technology, seminars organized by professional sectors and localities...

Not only enriching his family, Mr. Nam also enthusiastically guides and shares many experiences in breeding with people in the village and commune to help them develop their economy.
