Plough and Rake Trade Village

The plough and rake trade village is located in Van Duong village (Also called as Muong village), Hoa Phong commune, My Hao district. Muong village is famous for its traditional iron hammering, and plough and rake making job; the village's products have supplied for Hung Yen – Hai Duong – Bac Ninh region. The products are firm, durable and suitable for farmers.

The plough and rake making job was very prosperous a long time ago; at the peak time,  the trade village could hire up to 500 people and sell about 60,000 and 70,000 products; the turnover was nearly VND 4 billion per year; the income per labourer was about VND 250,000 per month. Currently, due to the development of agricultural mechanisation, and the reduction in plough and rake demands, the total of labourers maintaining and running this profession is only 100 people; the production output is approximately 10,000 items per year.

Because of the market reduction, Muong trade village has changed to make household timber and artistic furniture . There are three types of timber processing in the village: traditional wooden plough and rake; household timber furniture (Table, chair, bed-frame and common wardrobe) and artistic carving timber products. Young labour forces have used mechanics in many phases and adopted techniques as well as experience from Dong Ky (Bac Ninh) trade village and Dong Giao (Hai Duong) trade village; hence its development is promising. Currently, the trade village employs about 312 labourers and creates more than VND 6 billion per year.
