Do Rattan Fish-net Trade Village

Do village (Quang Vinh commune, An Thi district) has the traditional rattan fish-net making job. Before and during the subsidy period, this profession developed prosperously. There were about 600 people doing this job; the annual turnover was VND 700 million; and the average income per labourer was about VND 150,000 per month. Currently, due to the development of the synthetic fibre production and the mechanical weaving technology, rattan fish-net making job is nearly lost and unable to restore. Nowadays, in Do village, there remain four households with 10 labourers weaving the fish-net but by nylon fibre.
