Copper casting trade village

          The copper casting trade village is located in Van O village and Long Thuong village in Dai Dong commune, Van Lam district. This is a traditional trade village that has been long-standing mentioned in the folk verse:

          Cau Nom in Dai Dong commune is the place gathering scrap metals for the trade village. In the past, products of the trade village were bells, peaks, statues, pots, and copper coins. Nowadays, products mostly are worshiping objects of Tam Su (Three executions) and Ngu Su (Five executions), bells, cranes and crowns. The trade village also casts and processes many copper parts used for the mechanical manufacturing industry. The production techniques are mostly manual such as the phases of moulding, mould drying, casting and pouring.  Some phases of the production use mechanical equipments including drilling, lathing and dressing. Currently, the major organizational type of the trade village is in term of households responsible from production to products consumption. Major customers of the trade village are retailers in Hanoi; recently there are some local retailers selling some parts of the products for the village.

          The number of labourers in the trade village is 200 people; the production output can reach 120 tonnes per year; the turnover is VND 4.5-5 billion; and the average income per labourer can be between VND 300,000 and 350,000 per month.
