To start construction of Xuan Quan pumping station (Phase 2)
On the morning of January 9, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Provincial People's Committee, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Xuan Quan pumping station (Phase 2) under the Bac Hung Hai Irrigation System Repair and Upgrade Project in Phung Cong commune. The ceremony saw the participation of: Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Lai Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The Bac Hung Hai irrigation system is a key project, playing a particularly important role in providing water for agricultural production and draining water for residential and industrial areas in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong. However, after many years of operation, some components of the system have deteriorated and no longer meet current development requirements. In addition, the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system receives millions of cubic meters of wastewater daily from domestic activities, craft villages, and production facilities, causing water pollution. Therefore, the implementation of the project to repair and upgrade the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system is extremely necessary and urgent to ensure water security, minimize environmental pollution, improve production efficiency, and contribute to sustainable socio-economic development for the localities. Among the key components of the project, the Xuan Quan pumping station (phase 2) is a crucial part. The project, invested by Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One-Member Limited Company, has a total investment of approximately 65 billion VND.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lai Van Hoan affirmed that this project is of significant importance, contributing to ensuring a stable and proactive water supply for irrigation during the dry season; increasing flow volume, improving water quality, minimizing environmental pollution; and simultaneously enhancing the efficiency of exploitation and maximizing the investment value of the Bac Hung Hai Irrigation System, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development of the region in the coming period. To ensure the project is completed on schedule, the comrades requested that the investor and contractor urgently mobilize manpower and equipment, and organize construction to ensure the progress and quality of the project according to the plan.
