In recent years, the One Commune One Product Program (OCOP Program) has created an important driving force to improve production value, created many high-quality, unique products, and boosted the potential and advantages of each locality. After being recognized, OCOP products have increased in value, expanded consumption markets, contributed to increasing revenue, and creating jobs for local workers.

In Van Giang district, implementing the OCOP Program, the District People's Committee directed localities to promote propaganda and guide subjects to register products to participate in the OCOP Program. To date, there are 19 OCOP products recognized as 3-star and 4-star products. Some products have built a brand and a foothold in the market such as: Van Giang orange, rice cake (filled with browned onion), Van Giang guava, round sticky rice cake, dried chicken, Danh Vi honey...

Comrade Nguyen Quoc Chuong, Vice Chairman of Van Giang District People's Committee, said: After local typical products were certified as OCOP products, participating entities invested in upgrading and expanding production scale, diversifying packaging designs, paying attention to brand promotion, bringing OCOP products to markets inside and outside the province. All entities comply with the conditions of safe production, ensuring food hygiene and safety and other production and business conditions...

With the round sticky rice cake product recognized as 3-star OCOP in 2023, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim, the owner of Kim Phung round sticky rice cake production facility, Cuu Cao commune (Van Giang) shared: Participation in the OCOP program helps my family's products increase the competitive advantage compared to similar products on the market, become known to many people, have a wider consumption market, and create prestige with customers. In particular, the program helps my family perfect the production process to meet food safety and hygiene criteria, improve designs and further enhance product value.

In the first 6 months of this year, Kim Dong district has had 6 more products recognized as OCOP, bringing the total number of OCOP products in the district to 43 products. In general, the district's OCOP products meet the requirements for trademarks, traceability codes, product quality inspection, designs, and packaging to meet consumer's taste requirements; convenient in applying information technology to management, sales, participating in linked chains for consuming products... Comrade Nguyen Quoc Viet, Deputy Head of the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kim Dong district affirmed: The OCOP products in the district are supported to participate in markets, conferences, fairs... promoting agricultural products and specialties inside and outside the province, contributing to introducing products to a large number of customers and building linking, consuming products in the future... OCOP products increase in value by 15 - 20% compared to similar products in the district.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now in the whole province there are 265 OCOP products with 99 participating entities; of which, there are 219 products with 3-star rating and 46 products with 4-star rating. Products with good quality, ensuring food safety and hygiene, beautiful designs, clear production origins, have created consumer's trust, typically: The turmeric products of Hoang Minh Chau Hung Yen Company Limited (Khoai Chau), longan holding lotus of Vinagri Co. Ltd. (Tien Lu), honey, lotus seeds of Mai Trang business establishment (Hung Yen city)...

Although some positive results have been achieved, the development of OCOP products in the province still has some limitations and does not ensure sustainability. Products are not diverse and there is no national product (5 stars). Some entities have not boldly brought their products to participate in markets, fairs, and conferences to introduce and sell OCOP products and local agricultural products...

Comrade Le Van Thang, Manager of the Rural Development Branch, said: In the coming time, the Branch will continue to coordinate with districts, town and city to review and support entities regarding production and business equipment, investment in science, technology and trade promotion to expand consumption markets; guide OCOP entities to invest in designs and ensure product quality to suit consumer needs. Along with that, localities need to plan and ensure raw material areas, quality of input materials, and ensure traceability to serve the production expansion needs of subjects. Entities need to name the product associated with a place, geography, culture, specialty or production facility name so that consumers can easily recognize it in the market and facilitate the registration of product trademark protection of good quality, enhancing the value of local specialty products...
