The investment attraction in agricultural production and processing

By the end of December 2024, in the whole province there are nearly 15.4 thousand hectares of fruit trees, of which the longan growing area is nearly 5 thousand hectares, with an output of 40-45 thousand tons/year; the lychee growing area is more than 1.3 thousand hectares, with an average output of 17 thousand tons/year; the banana growing area is more than 2.5 thousand hectares, with an output of nearly 50-70 thousand tons/year; the orange growing area is more than 1.7 thousand hectares, with an output of 27 thousand tons/year; the grapefruit growing area is more than 2.1 thousand hectares, with an output of 27 thousand tons/year.

The livestock and aquaculture sector is developing strongly, with high productivity. In 2024, the pig herd has been maintained at about 520 thousand heads, the poultry herd reaches over 9.4 million heads; the buffalo and cow herd has over 36 thousand heads. The province's fresh meat output in 2024 reaches over 157.7 thousand tons, and the egg output attains over 483 million eggs. With over 5.2 thousand hectares of water surface for aquaculture, the annual output is over 50 thousand tons.

With the increasing output in cultivation, livestock and aquaculture over the years, the processing to improve quality, value and ensure product safety is necessary for organizations and individuals. From the province's orientations and policies in investment attraction in agricultural production and processing projects, up to now, in the whole province there are 3,900 establishments, of which about 100 enterprises and establishments have registered to invest in the field of preserving, processing and trading agricultural products...

For rice and paddy processing establishments, the whole province has more than 1,600 establishments, of which 15 establishments are industrial-scale serving the domestic and export markets. In addition, the province has over 1,000 establishments processing lotus seeds, longans, vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds, including 14 units processing vegetables, tubers, and fruits (in jars, cans) on an industrial scale, using equipment such as washing machines, peeling machines, boilers, sterilizers, etc.

In the livestock sector, the province has about 900 establishments slaughtering, processing, and processing animal products, including 5 industrial-scale processing units and 135 small-scale processing establishments. The aquaculture sector has 3 processing enterprises, including one enterprise processing aquatic products on an industrial scale, using modern technology...

In order to increase the output for processing, in 2024, the province’s Agriculture and Rural Development sector has carried out such a number of solutions as: Support consulting, guidance, coordination in granting VietGAP certification to maintain and expand 67 agricultural production models with an area of 379.7 hectares, bringing the total area certified by VietGAP in the whole province to more than 4.5 thousand hectares. Of which, cultivation has more than 4.27 thousand hectares; livestock farming is nearly 199 hectares (equivalent to more than 3 million pigs, chickens, ducks, cows of all kinds and 5,100 bee colonies); aquaculture is 115.2 hectares and 242 fish cages. To provide consulting on certification, build quality management systems for organizations and individuals participating in the safe production and consumption chain; support tens of thousands of product containers (lychees, longans, oranges and some processed products) and hundreds of thousands of labels to identify the origin of safe products. To support signs to promote and introduce products; consult on building logos, trademarks, packaging design, intellectual property protection and support product packaging to build brands; consult on announcing standards for processed products. To support the construction of infrastructure such as water supply, drainage, electricity, waste treatment systems, agricultural drying ovens, etc.

Despite positive prospects, the production, processing and consumption of agricultural products still have many limitations as follows: Production scale is still small; joint ventures and associations in production and business are not many and not tight; the planning of specialized production areas, concentrated in some localities has not been effective. The development of post-harvest processing and preservation industry is still limited; most agricultural products consumed and exported are in raw, preliminary processing form, so the added value is low. The rate of products produced in accordance with VietGAP procedures and safety is still low compared to the total agricultural output of the province. The amount of agricultural products consumed through distribution channels in major domestic markets is only about 30 - 40%, the rest is mainly consumed spontaneously. Enterprises play a central, leading and decisive role in the value chain in agricultural production, especially in the product consumption stage. However, currently, agricultural enterprises in the province are mainly small and medium-sized ones, not capable of leading value chains; lack of cooperation and linkage between enterprises, affecting the chain production process and stabilizing the agricultural product market.

In order to have common points for production, processing and consumption of agricultural products, in the coming time, the province’s Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to coordinate with units to build and develop models of safe food production and consumption; encourage and support production establishments to invest in production areas, apply good agricultural practices. To review existing agricultural, forestry and fishery production and consumption chains and select to upgrade them into sustainable value chains. To promote activities to connect and consume key products and strengths of the province to bring high economic value to each stage in the product chain. To strengthen the implementation of the province's mechanisms and policies to encourage organizations and individuals to boost the application of processing technology in association with concentrated production areas. At the same time, coordinate to review and improve the capacity of production and business establishments of food products and OCOP products (on food) to gradually improve the quality and value of products. To organize conferences to connect supply and demand, connect trade of goods...
