The Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac (1724-1791), originally was born in Lieu Xa village, Duong Hao district, Thuong Hong ward, now Lieu Xa village, Nguyen Van Linh commune, Hung Yen province. With his immense contributions to medical research and healing, Le Huu Trac is considered a great physician and the founder of Vietnamese traditional medicine. He was also an outstanding writer, poet, and scientist in the 18th century, leaving behind a vast body of work with a lot of famous writings. Among them, the Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh (28 volumes, divided into 66 books) is considered an encyclopedia of Vietnamese traditional medicine, studied and applied in many countries around the world. Besides his works, Le Huu Trac also left behind for posterity an exemplary character of a physician wholeheartedly devoting to the people. With his immense contributions to national and human culture, in November 2023, the 42nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France, adopted a resolution approving the list of "Cultural Figures and Historical Events for the 2024-2025 term," which included a dossier commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac.

The Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac historical site in Lieu Xa village, Nguyen Van Linh commune, preserves cultural and historical values ​​related to the Great Physician Le Huu Trac. For a long time, it has become a popular destination attracting many locals and tourists for visits and worship. The site was classified as a national historical site in 1990 and has undergone numerous restorations and renovations. Over time, some parts of the site have deteriorated and no longer meet the cultural needs of the people and tourists.

With the attention of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, and the decisive and close guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Yen province, and various provincial departments and agencies, in 2024, the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Yen My district (formerly) directed the implementation of the project to restore and renovate the historical site of the Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac in Lieu Xa village with a total investment of 65 billion VND, covering a total area of ​​1.98 hectares. The project was carried out with four main components: the restoration and renovation of the temple complex, the left and right wings, and the temple gate; and eight components of restoration and renovation of auxiliary and related structures, including: the Van village communal house, the four-pillar gate, the Ba Co shrine, the screen wall, the incense burning shrine, the fence, the preservation house, the courtyard and flowerbeds. Simultaneously, the project involved the construction and completion of the technical infrastructure outside the historical site, such as: rest pavilions, riverbank embankments and railings, roads, parking lots, courtyards, electricity and water supply and drainage systems, restrooms, landscaping and greenery… along with other supporting items.

After more than a year of implementation, the entire restoration and renovation project of the historical site has been completed according to plan.
