The Vietnam Eastern Highway Economic Corridor (VEHEC) was formed from an agreement between VCCI and 4 provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hai Duong on the basis of the inter-regional expressway axis from Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh. This is an initiative in implementing the Party and State's policy on boosting regional linkages to enhance coordination in exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of each locality...

In his opening speech at the forum, Comrade Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of VCCI, affirmed: the Resolution No. 30-NQ/TW dated November 23, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Red River Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, emphasized the role of the Red River Delta as a driving force for national economic development, prioritizing industrial modernization, expanding infrastructure and implementing sustainable development policies.

VEHEC is an important economic driving force in the North, with the GRDP growth rate of the whole region in recent years reaching a high level, fluctuating between 9 - 12% per year, higher than the average GRDP of 63 provinces and cities. The total number of enterprises operating in production and business in the 4 VEHEC localities is 52 thousand, accounting for nearly 6% of the total number of enterprises in operation nationwide.

Contributing to the forum, Comrade Nguyen Le Huy, Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: After 2 years of signing the VEHEC agreement, the province's economic growth rate has achieved positive results. The economic structure has shifted towards industrial and service development. Currently, the province has attracted over 2,300 investment projects with a total registered capital of over 23 billion USD; planning to develop 35 concentrated industrial parks with an area of ​​12 thousand hectares... Site clearance work has been carried out with attention by all levels, sectors and localities. To beef up the supply of global smart manufacturing chains, bolster the development of high-tech and knowledge-intensive manufacturing industries, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee proposed such a number of contents as: Unifying the investment in building a synchronous and level-level transport infrastructure system, ensuring smooth connections between localities in VEHEC, creating favorable conditions for the circulation of goods in the region and the world. To unanimously recommend the Prime Minister to have preferential policies for investors implementing high-tech and knowledge-intensive projects; decentralize to localities to organize the appraisal of feasibility study reports on investment in construction of level I projects...
