The Conference on Promoting Longan and Agricultural Products Consumption in Hung Yen Province in 2025

Hung Yen province has about 5,800 hectares of longan, of which about 15 - 20% of the total area is for specialty longan varieties such as sugar, ancient... mainly concentrated in such wards and communes as: Hong Chau, Tan Hung, Duc Hop, Hong Quang, Khoai Chau, Chau Ninh, Trieu Viet Vuong... These are areas with soil and climate conditions suitable for longan trees, people have many years of experience in cultivation techniques, fertilization and pest control.

This year, the longan harvest season is concentrated from July 15 to September 20, 2025 with three main phases: early ripening longan harvested before July 30 (accounting for about 10% of the area), main-season ripening longan harvested from August 1 to 30 (accounting for about 50% of the area) and late ripening longan harvested from August 30 to September 20 (accounting for about 40% of the area). With favorable weather conditions for longan growth, the province's longan productivity and output in 2025 are expected to increase by about 15% as compared to that in 2024. The province is expected to harvest more than 50,000 tons of longan, of which more than 60% get the VietGAP and organic standards, meeting the strict requirements of markets such as the United States, EU, Japan, China, etc.

Not only longan, other agricultural products of Hung Yen province are also being promoted for consumption through e-commerce channels, large supermarket systems and clean food store chains. These achievements are the result of the continuous efforts of farmers, cooperatives, businesses, and active support from local authorities at all levels.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Le Huy affirmed: After merging with Thai Binh province, Hung Yen province (new) has inherited and promoted the outstanding strengths of both localities, especially in the field of agricultural production and consumption. Hung Yen longan - a brand that has been recognized for geographical indication and is in the top 50 famous fruits of Vietnam continues to be the pride of Hung Yen people. In addition, other typical agricultural products such as: Ban soy sauce, Dong Tao chicken, Hung Yen Trung lychee, longan honey, Chi Tan turmeric, Nguyen village Cáy cake, fragrant rice, Quynh Coi rice paper, Diem Dien fermented crab paste, Thai Binh yellow flower sticky rice, Tien Hai purple sweet potato... are increasingly affirming their quality in the domestic and international markets.

Emphasizing that the conference to promote the consumption of Hung Yen longan and agricultural products in 2025 is organized with the goal of continuing to promote the brand, connecting supply and demand, expanding domestic and foreign consumption markets, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that through this conference, businesses, distributors and international partners will find sustainable cooperation opportunities, together bringing Hung Yen agricultural products further. Hung Yen province is committed to creating an open and transparent investment environment, continuing to accompany farmers and businesses by supporting policies on techniques, plant varieties, trade promotion and digital transformation in agriculture.

He believes that, with the support of ministries, branches, domestic and foreign partners, and the efforts of farmers, the new Hung Yen will continue to affirm its position as one of the leading agricultural warehouse in the country.

Speaking at the promotion conference, Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Agency of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: Hung Yen is one of the leading provinces in organizing longan weeks, longan festivals, connecting supply and demand directly in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities. In particular, the province has proactively coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to participate in a number of online promotion conferences with international markets in recent years, helping to expand export opportunities. These efforts have helped Hung Yen affirm its position as the "longan capital" of the country; at the same time, becoming a typical locality in organizing production, consumption and building agricultural product brands.

To continue to increase the value and expand the market for Hung Yen's longan and agricultural products in the coming time, the Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency also suggested and proposed a number of solutions as follows: strengthening the construction and promotion of brands, standardizing production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP organic processes; diversifying products and deep processing, expanding export markets as well as promoting cooperation with domestic and foreign e-commerce products, logistics, planning and building green and sustainable agricultural areas, associating products with QR codes for traceability and origin authentication.

He also affirmed that the Trade Promotion Agency always accompanies and provides maximum support in boosting consumption, expanding markets, and promoting brands for Hung Yen agricultural products.

Next, representatives of departments, branches, localities and participating enterprises focused on exchanging and discussing solutions to beef up consumption, promote brands of longan and Hung Yen agricultural products for domestic and foreign markets.
