Originally established in 1972 as Thai Binh Rice Seed Company, ThaiBinh Seed is one of the early plant seed enterprises in Vietnam. Over more than 50 years of formation and development, the Group has made a pioneering mark in research, breeding, and transfer of plant varieties, with nearly 40 varieties recognized at the national level. ThaiBinh Seed's rice varieties currently account for more than 20% of the country's cultivated area, making a significant contribution to increasing productivity and ensuring national food security.

Alongside seed research, the company has invested in a modern infrastructure, including a seed processing plant with a capacity of 30,000 tons/year, a testing laboratory system meeting national standard of VILAS 110, and a production and business network spanning many ecological regions.

On December 27, 2025, at the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, ThaiBinh Seed was honored to receive the title of "Labor Hero in the Renovation Period" - a prestigious award recognizing the outstanding contributions of the enterprise to Vietnam's agricultural sector.

Continuing its development journey, ThaiBinh Seed commenced the construction of a high-quality rice plant in Le Xa village, Quynh Phu commune, covering an area of ​​10 hectares, with a total investment of 1,000 billion VND and a designed capacity of 50,000 tons/year. The project is invested with modern and synchronized technology, aiming to form a large-scale rice processing center in the Northern region.

When it is operational, the plant will contribute to completing the closed rice value chain from seed research and raw material area organization to processing and product consumption, simultaneously enhancing the added value and competitiveness of Vietnamese rice in the market.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged and highly appreciated the persistent and innovative contributions of ThaiBinh Seed to the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. He emphasized that the orientation of shifting from simple seed production to developing a closed value chain and promoting deep processing is consistent with the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards improving quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment requested that in the coming time, ThaiBinh Seed continue to play a core role in research and breeding; promote the application of biotechnology and genetic technology; actively build a sustainable rice value chain; strengthen investment in post-harvest processing and preservation; develop high-quality rice brand associated with low emissions; promote digital transformation and improve corporate governance capacity.

Congratulating, acknowledging, and highly appreciating the Group's outstanding achievements, Mr. Lai Van Hoan, the Provincial Party Committee’s Member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: the title "Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period" is a particularly prestigious award, recognizing the great, persistent, and innovative contributions of ThaiBinh Seed Group to the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers in Vietnam.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, after more than 50 years of construction and development, ThaiBinh Seed has risen to become one of the leading enterprises in the field of plant seeds, owning over 30 copyrighted varieties, accounting for approximately 20% of the national rice seed market share; building a modern research and production system with many processing plants meeting international standards and a wide distribution network. Not only stopping at seed production, the Group has developed a closed value chain from research - production - processing - consumption, contributing to enhancing the brand value of Vietnamese rice.

For Hung Yen province, ThaiBinh Seed has made a lot of practical contributions through supplying high-quality rice seeds, transferring advanced technologies, linking production with farmers and cooperatives, contributing to the formation of concentrated commodity production areas, increasing people's income and boosting the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards modernity, efficiency, and sustainability.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the commencement of construction of the high-quality rice plant is of great importance, as a strategic step to complete the rice value chain, not only increasing the value of rice grains and meeting market demands but also creating jobs, increasing income for workers, and promoting local socio-economic development. This is also a typical model for the orientation of modern agricultural development, linked with processing industry, brand building and sustainable development.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed confidence that with the foundation already built and the development orientation towards high-tech agriculture, innovation, and adaptation to climate change, ThaiBinh Seed will continue to play a leading role in the plant seed industry, enhance its competitiveness, and make positive contributions to the development of Vietnamese agriculture; at the same time, he affirmed that Hung Yen province will always accompany and create favorable conditions for the enterprise to invest and develop effectively in the area.
