At the Trieu Viet Vuong Temple, provincial leaders and delegates respectfully offered incense, commemorating the merits of Trieu Viet Vuong – a national hero who made great contributions to the cause of national defense. Trieu Viet Vuong, whose given name was Trieu Quang Phuc, was the son of Grand Tutor Trieu Tuc, from Chu Dien district (now Trieu Viet Vuong commune). He was a talented general who joined Ly Nam De's rebellion early on, contributing to the establishment of the Van Xuan Kingdom in 544 and was granted the title of Left General. During the resistance against the Liang invasion, Trieu Quang Phuc chose the Da Trach swamp area as his base, flexibly employing guerrilla warfare tactics, organizing fighting forces while simultaneously developing production to ensure food supplies for the rebel army. In 548, after Ly Nam De's death, he was enthroned by the generals and soldiers, proclaiming himself King and taking the title Trieu Viet Vuong. Subsequently, the rebel army launched many major attacks, defeating the Liang army. Trieu Viet Vuong established his base in Long Bien citadel, continuing the legacy of the Early Ly Dynasty until 571.
