The scholar Le Quy Don (1726 - 1784), whose childhood name was Le Danh Phuong, was born in a scholarly family in Dien Ha village, Son Nam Ha town (now Le Quy Don commune). From a young age, he was known for his intelligence, extensive learning, and high achievements in the examinations. During his official career, he was an honest and upright mandarin, holding many important positions such as Director of the National Historical Institute and Deputy Envoy to the Qing Dynasty.
With his progressive ideology of "Without agriculture, there is no stability; without industry, there is no wealth; without commerce, there is no activity; without knowledge, there is no prosperity," Le Quy Don left behind approximately 40 valuable books in many fields such as history, geography, philosophy, literature, language, and astronomy.
In November 2025, at its 43rd session in Uzbekistan, UNESCO adopted a resolution honoring and participating in the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the cultural figure Le Quy Don, recognizing his immense contributions to human knowledge.
The Le Quy Don Cultural Celebrity Memorial Area, located in Le Quy Don commune, covers a total area of 9.7 hectares, including a newly built memorial area, an ancient relic area, and a public service area. To preserve and promote the value of the relic, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 2 as the investor for the restoration and renovation project of the relic with a total investment of over 41 billion VND from the State budget, to be implemented in the period 2025-2026. The main items include: the restoration of the Ancestral Hall, the tomb of Le Trong Thu, and overall renovation of infrastructure and landscape of the grounds.

Specifically, the trees plantation in the Memorial Area will be carried out in mid-July 2026, selecting suitable tree species to create a green, clean, and beautiful space.
Regarding the road connecting the historical site, he requested the Investment and Construction Management Board No. 02 and related units and contractors to focus manpower and equipment, accelerate construction progress, and ensure good service for the travel, sightseeing, and worship needs of the people and tourists.
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently finalize the script and develop a plan for organizing commemorative activities, ensuring solemnity and significance; simultaneously, continue to complete the application for the recognition of the Memorial Area as a national-level historical site. Le Quy Don commune closely coordinates in the implementation, ensuring the best conditions for the successful commemorative activities.
He emphasized the need to build a mechanism for the effective and sustainable management and exploitation of the Memorial Area; linking preservation with the promotion of heritage values, contributing to traditional education, and spreading the cultural and scientific values of the cultural figure Le Quy Don; worthy of the merits and contributions of an outstanding national figure.
