18/04/2014 | lượt xem: 12 in: Trieu Quang Phuc (? - 571) Trieu Quang Phuc was the son of Thai pho - Trieu Tuc (One of three highest - levelled mandarins in the royal court). His homeland was in Chu Dien district (Currently Khoai Chau district). In 541, he followed his father to attend Ly Bon's insurgence against the Luong invaders. After many contributions, he was appointed to the position of general. In 554, the insurgence came to a victory, Ly Bon ascended the throne, proclaiming himself as Ly Nam De and founding Van Xuan State, which was set up in Long Bien. The following year (In 545), Luong Vo De ordered Tran Ba Tien to lead an army to invade the country. As the enemy was strong and Ly Nam De could not resist, he retreated to Khuat Lao cavern (Currently Tam Nong of Phu Tho province) for a long-term resistance. He ordered General Trieu Quang Phuc in charge of the insurgent troops to fight against Tran Ba Tien. After drawn battles, he decided to carry out the tactic combining long-term attack in delta and guerilla warfare to make the enemy's force weaken. He and his troops withdrew to new headquarter in Da Trach (In Khoai Chau district). Da Trach was a large marshy area next to the Red River with luxuriant canes and reeds and a big land area in the middle that enabled people to live on. This area was inaccessible to horses and could only be reached by small boats. According to the history, Trieu Quang Phuc stationed more than 20,000 troops in this area, where they practiced military exercise and cultivated rice and potatoes everyday. From this refuge, he could strike without warning and seize supplies from Luong army. Therefore, he was honored as King of Da Trach. Establishing the resistance base in the delta was his prudent strategy in using military troops. Unlike mountainous and hilly areas where there were various obstacles that make them difficult to access, the plain area was divided into small areas by various rivers and streams with many marshy ponds, which created unfavorable conditions for the movement of a big army. That kind of terrain made the enemy divided into small groups, which wiped out their strong points and gave the troops an advantage to damage the enemy. With the policy of "long-term resistance war, the weak vanquishing the strong, and mainly using the attack of attrition", the troops became stronger and stronger with many victories while the Luong army became weaker during four years of fighting between the two sides (547-550). In April 548, Ly Nam De died in Khuat Lao cavern. Army officers wanted Trieu Quang Phuc to replace Ly Nam De, but he only proclaimed himself as Trieu Viet Vuong. Also in that year, availing himself of the internal disturbances in China, he defeated the Luong invaders. As the country was clear of invaders, he moved to Long Bien and continued the cause of the former Ly dynasty to reconstruct the country. In 557, Ly Phat Tu, a nephew of Ly Bon, who had previously escaped to Da Nang cavern (Now in Thanh Hoa province), led troops to fight Trieu Viet Vuong. After a period of fighting without victories by both sides, they came to a conciliation and set up a border in Quan Than (Thuong Cat and Ha Cat of the current Tu Liem district - Hanoi), and established a marriage relation. Nha Lang, a son of the Ly family, got married to Cao Nuong, a daughter of the Trieu family. The Ly family set up its capital in O Dien while the capital of the Trieu family was set up in Long Bien. In 571, because of lacking vigilance over Ly Phat Tu's fraudulence, Trieu Quang Phuc was defeated and retreated to the south. He threw himself into Dai An seaport (Currently in Nam Dinh province). Mourning over him and his contributions as a hero of national salvation, people set up temples for worshipping him in many places. In Da Trach temple (Khoai Chau district), his votive tablet is placed next to that of Chu Dong Tu – Tien Dung.
