The Official Telegram on strengthening the market inspection and supervision to ensure the balance of goods supply and demand, market stability and social security

On 29/7/2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued the Official Telegram No. 4436/CD-BCT on strengthening market inspection and supervision to ensure the balance of goods supply and demand, market stability and social security.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests the heads of the Market Surveillance Departments of the provinces and centrally-run cities as follows:

- To concentrate and drastically direct the management by areas, collect, examine, verify information, monitor and promptly detect abnormal movements of goods circulating on the market, especially those related to essential goods serving people's lives; immediately report to the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as the People's Committees of provinces and cities the status, causes and propose solutions for abnormal fluctuations in prices, the supply and demand of essential commodities, especially food, foodstuffs, constructional materials and medical equipment in the assigned area.

- To take charge and cooperate in exchanging information with other functional agencies in the Steering Committees 389 at all levels or relevant localities to promptly detect and handle organizations and individuals that take advantages of the market with the fluctuations in supply and demand, commodity prices due to epidemics or other unusual developments in order to gain illicit profits.

- To propagate and mobilize organizations and individuals producing and trading essential commodities to properly perceive and actively participate in local price stabilization programs, especially food, foodstuffs, constructional materials and medical equipment for the epidemic prevention and control.

- The heads of the Market Surveillance Departments of the provinces and centrally-run cities must be answerable to the Minister if they allow their units to commit violations in their official duties or allow acts of abuse the fluctuations in the supply and demand, commodity prices due to epidemics or other unusual developments to gain illicit profits without examined and handled.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigns specific tasks to the General Director of the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance.
