Hung Yen attends a teleconference to assess the implementation of national key transport projects.

On August 10, the State Steering Committee for national key transport projects (the Steering Committee) held a teleconference to evaluate the implementation of national key transport projects.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the conference. The conference was streamed directly from the Government Headquarters’ bridge point to the bridge points of 33 provinces and centrally-run cities with key projects and works.

At the Hung Yen destination, the conference drew the attendance of comrades: Mr. Tran Quoc Van, Deputy Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hung Nam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the country is implementing three strategic breakthroughs, including the one in infrastructure. In the strategic breakthrough in infrastructure, there is transport infrastructure, focusing on inter-regional and inter-provincial traffic works. The goal is that by 2030, the whole country will complete at least 5,000 km of highways. Therefore, the task until 2030 is very heavy. Therefore, it is necessary to make integrated measures to promote achievements and experiences; overcome difficulties, obstacles and limitations; promptly handle new arising to promote the investment and construction of works. The Prime Minister suggested that the Steering Committee unify the working regulations, in the spirit of efficiency and substance; maximize the spirit and responsibility of the members; smoothly coordinate from the central to the local; with high determination, great effort, drastic action, with the focus; for the people, for the country, for the goals set by the Party.

The conference heard the announcement of the decision on establishing the State Steering Committee for national key transport projects. Accordingly, on July 23, 2022, the Prime Minister signed the Decision No. 884/QD-TTg to establish a Steering Committee to help the Government and the Prime Minister direct the implementation of national key transport projects. The Steering Committee is responsible for researching and proposing to the Government and the Prime Minister the directions and solutions to solve important and interdisciplinary issues to accelerate the progress of projects. In addition, helping the Government and the Prime Minister to direct, inspect, coordinate and urge relevant ministries, branches and localities to perform the tasks of investment and construction of the above-mentioned projects in accordance with the Resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government...

According to the decision to establish the Steering Committee, the national key transport projects include 9 projects and 31 component projects. In which, the Ministry of Transport is the governing body for 3 projects and 4 component projects; localities act as managing agencies for 5 projects and 24 component projects; ministries, sectors and enterprises are managing agencies for 1 project and 3 component projects.

The conference listened to reports on the implementation of national key transport projects; the difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of the projects. Delegates contributed comments and proposed a number of solutions to improve the operation quality of the Steering Committee.

Addressing the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that in the coming time, ministries, branches and localities need to renew leadership, direction, organization, implementation, management, and inspection, supervision ... in order to effectively carry out key works and projects. The process of implementing works and projects must have focus, complete the work content according to the set plan. The members of the Steering Committee need to coordinate closely and synchronously to promote the sense of responsibility and meet the expectations of the Party, State and People.
