The Industry and Trade sector summarizes the performance of tasks in 2021 and implements the plan in 2022

In the morning of January 9, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a nationwide teleconference to summarize the performance of tasks in 2021 and implement the plan in 2022. The conference drew the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and leaders of ministries and central branches. At the provincial destination, the conference saw the participation of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hung Nam; leaders of provincial departments and branches.

According to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2021 in the context of many difficulties; especially the impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; parallel with the leadership and direction of the Party and State; with the high determination of the whole political system, the people of the country and the business community, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has drastically implemented the assigned tasks, strived to reach the highest level of the 2021 targets. Some outstanding results are as follows: Industrial production has maintained a good growth rate, industrial value added increased by 4.82%, higher than the same period last year and higher than the general growth rate of the economy. The scale of industrial production continues to expand, the whole year IIP increased by 4.8% as compared to 2020. The internal structure of the industry continues to change positively in accordance with the orientation of industry restructuring; the structure of processed and manufactured industrial goods in export continues to increase from 85.19% in 2020 to 86.24% in 2021, Vietnamese goods participate more deeply in the global production and supply chain. The processing and manufacturing industry continues to play a key role in leading the economic growth with an increase of 6.37%. The scale of commodity exports has achieved a high growth rate, export turnover is estimated to reach at nearly 332.25 billion USD, up 19% compared to 2020, exceeding the targets assigned by the National Assembly and the Government (in the plan: up 4-5 %). The structure of export goods continues to improve positively; the scale of export products has been expanded, in 2021 there have been 35 items with export turnover of over 1 billion USD. The supply and demand of domestic goods, especially necessities, are guaranteed, the supply of goods is abundant, and the prices are stable; the work of storing goods to serve the essential needs of people in the localities and across the country has been well carried out, ready according to the plans corresponding to all levels and developments of epidemics and natural disasters, storm and flood. In 2022, the Industry and Trade industry strives to complete the following objectives: Industrial production index increases by 7-8%; total export turnover from 6-8%, the trade balance maintains a surplus; total retail sales of consumer goods and services increase by about 7-8%; ensure power balance.

At the conference, leaders of ministries, branches and localities discussed, evaluated and contributed many ideas with the Industry and Trade sector in order to successfully implement the tasks in 2022 and the following years.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the entire Industry and Trade sector in the past year, especially when the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic has been dramatically complicated. The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the Industry and Trade sector should focus on effectively conducting the following key tasks: The whole industry should focus on leading and effectively formulating the national industry development plan to ensure the progress and quality, especially the planning on electricity, petrol and gas. To focus on solving difficulties and improving production and business efficiency in processing, manufacturing consumer goods, wood processing and agro-forestry products. To keep abreast of developments of domestic and foreign markets to enhance trade promotion and export. To focus on developing domestic commerce, promoting e-commerce associated with traditional one. To continue to make breakthroughs in administrative procedure reform, promote decentralization, and unleash all resources for the socio-economic development./.
