Carpentry workshop of Nguyen Quoc Phuong's family in Thuy Lan village, Thanh Long commune (Yen My)
Taking us to visit the workshop, which is more than 320 square meters wide, Phuong confided as follows: In the early stages of starting his business, he encountered many technical difficulties. Although it is a traditional local profession, when he was still in school, he was taught carpentry by artisans in the village, the specialized techniques and product designs are changing day by day. He spent a lot of time working and studying. With his industrious nature and eagerness to learn, and the dedicated guidance of his predecessors, he quickly caught up and mastered his craft. He regularly consults product designs on the Internet, thereby selectively absorbing and creating more to apply to his own products. In addition, he focuses on market research, grasping actual consumer needs to create products that customers are interested in. With diverse designs, high quality, reasonable prices, his family's wooden products such as: altar cabinets, tables, chairs, beds, cabinets... always ensure durability, beauty and quality. Therefore, the product not only serves people in the commune, a lot of wooden furniture businesses in neighboring provinces also come to his facility to make orders.
Currently, Phuong's family's carpentry workshop has a revenue of about 10 billion VND/year, after deducting the labor and raw material costs, it earns a profit of about 1 billion VND, creating jobs for 11 local workers with the average income of about 12 million VND/person/month.
Comrade Do Duc Trong, Vice Chairman of Thanh Long Commune People's Committee, said: Nguyen Quoc Phuong's family's wooden furniture workshop is one of the commune's typical economic development models. From passion, dynamism, creativity, and constantly searching to learn new ways of doing things, Phuong has contributed to preserving and promoting the traditional carpentry craft of Thuy Lan craft village and succeeded on the path of starting a business and contributing to the local socio-economic development.
