Connecting consumption of Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi

Phu Cu district on May 12, held a conference to connect the consumption of Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi. In the attendance were representatives of leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Science and Technology and more than 100 companies, enterprises, focal points for purchasing agricultural products inside and outside the province.

Delegates visit the Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi model in Tam Da commune

Phu Cu district has over 1,100 ha of Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi and Hung Yen Trung lychee, in which the area of early-ripening hybrid lychee is 850 ha, grown mainly in such communes as: Tam Da, Minh Tien and Tien Tien. The whole district has three litchi growing areas in the communes: Tam Da, Minh Tien and Phan Sao Nam, which are granted OTAS codes for export to the markets of Japan, Korea and some European countries.

Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi is harvested in the second half of May and earlier than other litchi on the market. Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi has bright red color, delicious and sweet taste; with the average weight of 25-20 fruits/kg. Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi has been granted a Certificate of trademark registration by the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology); and rated by Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee as a 4-star OCOP product.

In 2023, it is estimated that the output of Phu Cu early ripening lychee will be about 12,000 - 12,500 tons and harvested in late May and early June 2023.

At the conference, companies, businesses, and focal points for purchasing agricultural products shared experiences with farmers in Phu Cu district about the production process, the process of harvesting Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi products to ensure product quality and design, especially the ones exported to fastidious markets such as Europe and Japan; the conditions for bringing fresh lychee products into the supermarket system…

At the conference, a number of supermarkets, domestic enterprises and cooperatives in the district signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in consuming Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi products.

Before that, the participants at the conference visited lychee areas in Minh Tien and Tam Da communes.
