On September 13, the National Steering Committee for the Covid-19 Prevention and Control held its 17th meeting on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. The meeting is connected online with 63 provinces and cities across the country. Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee for the Covid-19 prevention and control chaired the meeting. At the Hung Yen destination, the meeting drew the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for the Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Up to now, the whole country has recorded over 11.4 million infected cases of Covid-19, including over 43,000 deaths. In August alone, there are over 632,000 infected cases and 24 deaths; the number of hospitalizations and recoveries has increased as compared to July 2022. In the past 7 days (from September 5 to 11), the country has recorded an average of about 2,900 new cases per day (On September 7, 3,878 cases have been recorded, which is the highest rate in nearly 4 months).

By the end of September 8, Vietnam has injected more than 258.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine and as one of the countries with the highest number of used vaccine doses and the highest vaccine coverage in the world. Over the past time, the Ministry of Health has focused on directing and coordinating with ministries and sectors to propose solutions to remove difficulties in the supply of medical equipment and drugs to medical facilities, people and businesses. .

From 2021 to now, the central government and localities have spent 85,747 billion VND in funding to carry out support policies for over 859,740 turns of employers and nearly 55.1 million turns of employees and other subjects facing with difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country is still complicated, the number of cases is on the rise again. The World Health Organization assessed that the world is still in a pandemic phase and warns of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that could complicate the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, the key tasks in the coming time are set as follows: To continue to closely monitor the developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, timely update the information on mutations; timely guide effective diagnosis, treatment and prevention; focus on overcoming the shortage of drugs and medical supplies, and improve the quality of medical services. To urge, support, guide and promote the organization of vaccination against Covid-19 in localities.

To continue to conduct social security policies, ensure the timeliness and right subjects, prevent policy profiteering. To focus on removing difficulties for businesses and localities in order to boost production, especially raw materials, fuel and input materials, control imports and proactively supply domestic sources instead of imported ones. To implement synchronously, drastically and more effectively the propaganda, raise awareness of the people and at all levels and sectors in the epidemic prevention and control; improve people's knowledge towards changing personal behavior in favor of health for the epidemic prevention and control.

At the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing the situation, tasks and solutions to further accelerate the vaccination work; overcome the shortage of drugs, medical equipment and supplies; ensure medical human resources…

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: Up to this point, Vietnam has maintained macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation, restored the economy, and promoted growth, guaranteed the great balance; maintained political stability, social order and safety; People's lives are improved. To successfully implement the vaccine strategy; summarize experiences, and formulas for the epidemic prevention and control.

However, there appears to be a mind of neglect and subjectivity to the disease, the shortage of drugs in medical examination and treatment at medical facilities... The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to coordinate and consider having solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles in purchasing medicines; apply technology so that the bidding and auction of drugs is open and transparent; the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment shall guide the organization of bidding, flexible in the form of centralized or decentralized bidding so that the procurement of drugs for medical examination and treatment for the People is more convenient. To continue to promote the vaccination against Covid-19; raise vigilance in all epidemic situations, not negligent and subjective. Regarding the situation of medical staff leaving, relevant ministries and branches need to research and analyze to have policies and regimes to ensure health workers' peace of mind...

Speaking at the Hung Yen bridge point, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung requested that, in light of the recent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the province with about 30 cases per day, the medical sector and localities need to actively grasp the situation, not subjective or neglect the epidemic. In addition, other diseases must be well controlled, so that the epidemic does not overlap. Regarding the vaccination against Covid-19, districts such as Van Lam, Yen My and Khoai Chau need to speed up the vaccination schedule. The Department of Education and Training directs schools to propagate and coordinate to fully vaccinate students. The Health sector and localities are interested in removing difficulties in bidding for drugs, equipment and medical supplies, speeding up the progress of bidding packages, closely monitoring to prevent violations; increasing full and comprehensive attention and motivation in performing tasks for medical staff. Localities review and immediately complete support for workers affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
