On the morning of January 12, the Ministry of Information and Communications held a national teleconference to summarize the work in 2020 and implement the tasks for 2021. In the attendance were comrades: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister; Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Department; Mr. Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Prime Minister and representatives of ministries and central branches.

At the provincial destination, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and presided over the conference; which saw the participation of leaders of departments and branches; leaders of the provincial telecommunications units.

According to the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications, in the past 5 years, many sectors of the industry have made breakthrough achievements, specifically: Postal sector: The biggest achievement in 2020 of the postal sector is the postal code platform attached to the digital map V-map (Vpostcosde); 24 million addresses nationwide are tagged with postcode based on the coordinate location; in the past 5 years, the postal sector has grown strongly, the average growth rate is over 30% / year; the revenue after 5 years has increased by 2.4 times, reaching over 35 trillion VND, contributing 2400 billion VND to the state budget; currently, there are 555 postal businesses; Vietnam post is in the top 50 in the world according to the report of the Universal Postal Union. Telecommunications sector: The biggest achievement in the telecom sector is the rapid growth of 5G; on April, 2019, it was tested broadcast, on December, 2020, it has been commercialized of services. Vietnam is in the world leader in 5G network; mobile waves cover 99.8% of the population, standing in the 10th rate of IPv6 usage worldwide; telecommunication rank has increased by 31 levels, currently ranking the 77th in the world according to the ranking of the International Telecommunication Union. Cyber ​​security and safety: as the second lowest amount of mobile malware in Southeast Asia; Vietnamese enterprises have mastered more than 90% of cyber security and safety products, and proactively no longer depend on foreign products and technologies. 100% of central and local information systems have 4 layers of protection. According to the ITU’s Global Cyber Security Index, Vietnam ranks the 50th in the world, up 50 levels as compared to 2017. The field of IT industry, electronics and telecommunications: In 2020, it is the first time Vietnam has officially announced the development orientation of digital technology enterprises, the strategy "Make in Vietnam"; the number of digital technology enterprises has increased by 2.4 times after 5 years, reaching the rate of 0.59 digital technology enterprises per 1000 people; the total revenue of ICT industry in 2020 reaches over 120 billion USD; the total number of ICT human resources is now more than 1 million people. Media and journalism: In the past 3 years, more than 4,500 articles, 154 fan pages and nearly 30,000 videos that are bad, toxic, or misleading the truth have been removed. By 2020, the rate of news with bad and toxic content on cyberspace has decreased by over 80%. The country has reduced 70 press agencies, 779 press agencies are operating.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the achievements of the industry in recent years, especially the contributions in the period when the whole country joined hands to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic. Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that 2021 is the first year of the new term with new missions and opportunities to challenge; the Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Information and Communications to review and complete documents defining the functions, tasks and organizational structure of the units under the Ministry; accelerate the deployment of 5G services; for the next 5-10 years strive to make Vietnam as one of the big manufacturers of network and telecommunications equipment in the world; apply a new way of digital transformation, build an e-government from the grassroots level and take people as the center; call on IT businesses to join hands with the Ministry of Information and Communications in their action programs towards building a digital government.

Speaking at the provincial destination, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung requested departments, branches and units to concretize contents, develop e-Government and digitalize suitable with the actual situation, change the approach as starting from the base; promote the application of information technology in teaching; telecommunications enterprises are interested in investing in telecommunications infrastructure in the province./.
