On the afternoon of April 24, at the Headquarter of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc worked with the key leaders of Hung Yen province, 1/16 localities in the country has balanced the budget and the economy despite affected by the disease in the first quarter.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chairs a meeting with key leaders of Hung Yen province.

This is the second meeting of the Prime Minister with the localities after Hanoi on the implementation of the socio-economic tasks, in order to promote the development after the impact of Covid-19.

In the first quarter, despite the impact of Covid-19 epidemic, the growth targets of Hung Yen province are quite positive. The province has comprehensively and effectively carried out the measures to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic.

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that Hung Yen has great potentials and strengths in terms of facilities, geographic location and people. As one of the poorest provinces, it has risen to become the one that contributes to the central budget. This is a great effort and following the right direction. The Prime Minister highly appreciated Hung Yen to do well in poverty reduction in 2019 and suggested that, along with completing the new-style rural areas construction, in the coming time, the province will take another step in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, bringing the rate to below 1%. He expected Hung Yen to catch up with the flow of foreign investment into Vietnam.

In the context of the disease impact, the province has strived to achieve the growth of nearly 7% in the first quarter, which is a bright spot in maintaining high growth that few localities have gained. In particular, businesses in the province have exported tens of millions of masks.

However, the scale is less than 90,000 billion VND, which does not commensurate with the potentials and advantages. PCI is low. The disbursement progress of public investment has not met the requirements. Some products of Hung Yen are not known by many people.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong speaks at the meeting

Therefore, in the coming time, the directions and tasks are that Hung Yen is developing not only economically but also culturally and socially. Hung Yen must set the striving goals higher. Planning must be adjusted to a new direction for new development. To diversify investment and attract big projects to promote the development.

The province must strive to become one of the leading localities in the region and the whole country with a number of advantages such as light industry, agro-processing industry, hi-tech agriculture, transportation, tourism...

The Prime Minister asked the province to try to accomplish the dual goal, which is to both drastically prevent and control Covid-19 and restore production and business, boosting the economic development, "the motto is tight defense and fast offensive”, prevent Covid-19, fast offensive is the economic development. Hung Yen needs to enter a new state in preventing and fighting against the epidemic, not let it return.

To strive to achieve the highest goals and missions set for 2020. That will be an "outstanding feat", contributing to the bright picture of Vietnam's economy in the context of global economic difficulties. The Prime Minister affirmed and believed that Hung Yen would continue to achieve success.
