21/04/2014 | View: 16 in: Le Van Luong (1912-1995) Le Van Luong’s real name was Nguyen Cong Mieu, who was born on March 28th, 1912 as a son of a Confucian family in Nghia Tru commune, Van Giang district. He was the younger brother of the writer Nguyen Cong Hoan. Early awaken by the revolutionary ideas; in 1927 he joined the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League (Thanh Nien Cach Mang Dong Chi Hoi). He enrolled in the Indochinese Communist group in June 1929 and joined the Indochinese Communist Party in January 1930. In March 1931, he was arrested by the French colonial and imprisoned in Sai Gon and then sentenced to death. In the context of increasing movements of advance forces, the French colonial government commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment and sent him to Con Dao Island. In prison, he took part in the Executive Board of Party Cell. He, together with his comrades, struggled against the severe conditions of French colonial prison and made it become the school of revolutionary activists. After the August Revolution, he returned to the south. In October 1945, he was appointed to be alternate member of the Southern Party Committee. In January 1946, he went to the north to assist the General Secretary - Truong Chinh in leading the "Su That" (the Truth) newspaper and its publishing house. After the national revolutionary day (On December 1946), he was selected as the Secretary of the Bureau of Central Standing Committee, Head of Organization Department of Central Committee, as well as Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. After the country’s reunification day, he served as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in the Government of Democratic Republic of Viet Nam. From 1956 to 1986, he held different positions such as Secretary of Party Committee of the Left bank region, Deputy Head of Organization Department of Central Committee, Head of Central Committee Office, then Head of Organization Department of Central Committee and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee. In the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Party Congress, he was selected to be a member of the Central Committee. Moreover, he held some important positions in the government such as Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam (In 2nd and 4th tenures), Member of Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (In 3rd tenure). He was also a member of National Assembly (In 6th and 7th tenures) In 1986, due to his old age, he was appointed to be in charge of building up the Party and Party's personnel by Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam. After 70 years of working, because of his great contributions to the revolutionary cause of Vietnamese people and the Party, he was granted the Golden Star Medal, 50 - year Party badge and other honorable medals by the State and the Party. He died on April 25th, 1995 at the age of 83.
