On the afternoon of January 12, the Ministry of Labor – War Invalids and Social Affairs held a conference to deploy the tasks of labor, people with meritorious services and social affairs in 2022. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended and directed the conference. At the provincial destination, the conference drew the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches; representatives of the Division of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs of districts, town and city.

According to a report of the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2021, the Ministry has actively coordinated with relevant ministries and branches to submit to the Government for promulgating support policies to ensure social security. Total funding for the performance of the Resolution No. 68 nationwide is over 35.9 trillion VND; supporting over 31.28 million turns of people; the amount for implementing the Resolution No. 116 is over 30.5 trillion VND, supporting over 12.8 million employees. In 2021, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the labor market faces many difficulties; the unemployment rate of working age in urban areas is 4.42%; the underemployment rate of workers in urban areas is 3.33%; the rate of poor households according to the multidimensional approach poverty line decreased by 0.52% as compared to the end of 2020; the rate of near-poor households reduced by 0.34%; the rate of poor households in poor districts declined by about 4%; 100% of social protection beneficiaries are eligible to receive regular monthly social allowance, 86% of the elderly with difficult circumstances have received social assistance and timely care; 86% of people with disabilities in difficult circumstances have received timely social support, care and rehabilitation. The proportion of children with special circumstances in the total child population decreased to 6.9%; maintaining 55% of communes, wards and townships up to the standards of communes, wards and townships suitable for children… In 2022, the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs sets such key targets to direct and control as: Continuing to perfect the legal system, strongly reforming institutions and administrative procedures in the fields of labor, people with meritorious services and society; stabilizing and developing the labor market; supporting job creation; restoring and ensuring supply for the restoration and development of production and business of enterprises; improving human resources with vocational skills, developing an open, flexible and modern vocational education system; focusing on training, retraining and fostering to improve professional qualifications and skills for workers in key economic areas and regions; realizing the goal of sustainable multi-dimensional poverty reduction, limiting re-poor and poverty generation; promoting the application of information technology in the operation of the industry.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam acknowledged the achievements of the entire Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs sector in the past year, especially in advising the Government and the Prime Minister to issue the Resolutions to support people and businesses. In the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the whole industry should focus on solving well the work of people with meritorious services, supporting and taking care of relatives of people with meritorious services better; well coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to well carry out the multi-dimensional poverty reduction program; more policies are needed to mobilize external resources to participate in the social protection system; closely coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protect the labor rights of Vietnamese citizens abroad; searching for new labor markets; re-planning the vocational training in the direction of autonomy, socialization and unified management. On the issue of child protection, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs and localities to strictly perform and take measures to better protect children, form a network of child protection to the commune level; the whole industry should continue to promote the application of information technology, implement digital transformation, in order to better meet the management, direction, administration and performance of tasks; do well the inspection and audit activities of disbursement, payment to support people and businesses to ensure no loss or wrong object./.
