On May 9, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee came to check the progress of making compensation plan, supporting the resettlement to build the conservation area of Hung Yen’s U Trung litchi (the oldest litchi tree) in Ba Dong hamlet, Phan Sao Nam commune (Phu Cu). This project is under the preservation and development project on the area of specialty longan and litchi in the province.

According to Phu Cu district's report, the District People's Committee collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the consultancy unit to do a survey and plan to make a planning of a conservation area for the oldest litchi tree in Mr. Nguyen Huu Vi's household in Ba Dong village, Phan Sao Nam commune. The District People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to coordinate with the People's Committee of Phan Sao Nam commune to conduct survey and inventory of the land and assets on land to prepare compensation and supporting plans when the State acquires land. As planned, the total recovered area is about 2.7 thousand m2; total estimated compensation budget is about 2.7 billion VND; the estimated number of resettlement land is 9 slots...

In the field inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong requested Phu Cu district to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to adjust the planning of the conservation area for the oldest litchi tree to suit the practical situation; formulate appropriate compensation and resettlement plans and urgently submit them to the Provincial People's Committee. Along with that, to mobilize people in the project area to support and ensure the project to be completed in the soonest time.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong visited the U Trung litchi model of Quyet Tien Agricultural Cooperative and a number of intensive farming one under the direction of VietGAP in Phan Sao Nam commune. He requested departments and branches to coordinate with Phu Cu district to urgently build trademark and geographical indication for U Trung litchi product; expand the intensive farming area in the direction of VietGAP; coordinate with scientific institutes and research centers to apply science and technology to improve the quality of litchi.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that, in about two weeks, the ​​litchi in Phu Cu would be harvested, so Phu Cu district urgently coordinated with relevant departments and agencies to announce the certification mark of U Trung litchi of Hung Yen; make a plan to sell the product, avoid the situation of falling prices; Phu Cu district develops litchi varieties as planned, expands the brand of U Trung litchi, contributes to raising incomes for growers.
