The Prime Minister chairs a conference with businesses on the economic recovery

On May 9, the Government held a teleconference with businesses to remove difficulties, promote production, business, and restore the economy to cope with Covid-19.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the conference. At the Hung Yen destination, the conference drew the attendance of comrades: Mr. Do Tien Sy, Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary, Head of the Provincial Delegation of the National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission; comrades in the Provincial Standing Committee; the Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee...

Delegates attend the conference at the Hung Yen destination

The conference was themed as "Working together - Overcoming challenges - Seizing opportunities - Restoring the economy". Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reviewed Vietnam's outstanding milestones in the process of controlling and repelling the Covid-19 epidemic, which was highly appreciated by the international community and the people. In particular, emphasizing the role of the business community and the sharing of businesses with the country. The Prime Minister has outlined a number of key solutions in the coming time such as: attracting domestic investment; attracting FDI, promoting exports, effectively implementing public investment and boosting domestic consumption ... At the same time, ministries, branches and localities are required to remove difficulties for enterprises to restart the economy and overcome this difficult period. In the spirit of listening to the enterprises' opinions, the Prime Minister asked the relevant ministries, branches and units to express their opinions to focus on solutions groups concisely and focusingly and go straight to the point.

According to a survey of nearly 13,000 enterprises conducted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in April, about 86% of businesses were negatively affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. In the first 4 months, the number of newly established enterprises decreased by 13.2% as compared to the same period in 2019; the total of additional registered capital declined by 20.4% as compared to the same period in 2019; the scale of enterprises is narrowed; the number of enterprises registering to suspend business for a definite time increased by 33.6% as compared to the same period in 2019 ... In parallel with the task of disease prevention, the Government has always accompanied with enterprises to overcome difficulties, be stable and restore production. Following the Prime Minister's direction, many important policies have been promulgated by the ministries and branches or submitted to the competent authorities timely to remove difficulties for production, business and social security. In particular, many policies on reducing input costs; exemption and reduction of fees and charges; discounts on goods and services were issued. The State Bank of Vietnam has issued many credit support policies for customers affected by Covid-19 epidemic; continued to reduce the operating interest rate from 0.5-1% / year. Many fiscal policies have been issued to support businesses such as: extending the time for paying taxes and land rent; reducing corporate income tax for small and micro enterprises; exemption of agricultural land use tax. The Government issued Resolution No. 42 / NQ-CP on the measures to support people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic with a total budget of VND 62 trillion ...

In Hung Yen, GRDP growth rate in the first quarter reached 6.88%; the 4-months budget revenue is estimated to gain at 4,455 billion VND, getting 29.9% of the plan; there are 360 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of 2.2 trillion VND... The province spent from the state budget an amount of 70.1 billion VND to purchase drugs, medical supplies ... to serve the disease prevention; carried out the measures to manage monetary and credit policies, contributing to solving difficulties for businesses affected by the epidemic; proactively deployed separate provincial packages to support people facing difficulties due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, such as: Supporting 100% of the fund to buy health insurance for disabled people who have not received monthly allowance; supporting 50% of the prescribed social allowance for seniors aged full 75 to under 80 without pensions and allowances; supporting 30kg of rice / household for 100% poor households in the province; continuing to build houses for households with meritorious services to the revolution and poor households with housing difficulties...

At the conference, the delegates heard the opinions of the business community, associations, experts; the ministries, branches and localities answered the recommendations and problems of enterprises and stated the support for enterprises ...

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested ministries, branches and localities to remove recommendations and difficulties so as not to miss and loss the business opportunities of enterprises. After this conference, the Government will issue a resolution to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for production and business enterprises, especially after the Covid-19 epidemic. For the business community, the Prime Minister asked businesses not to expect and rely on them; but strongly restructure, improve governance for sustainable development; strongly apply science and technology to improve production and raise competition...
