Hung Yen holds the meeting to speed up the development of 12 urban areas
On March 22, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to discuss the solutions to speed up the provincial urban development program by 2020. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui The Cu chaired the meeting.

According to the plan of the provincial urban development program by 2020, the whole province has 12 urban areas, of which 1 urban area meets the standards of grade II, 1 at grade III, 4 at grade IV and 6 at grade V; the rate of urbanization in the whole province reaches 41%. According to the evaluation, the progress of implementing the urban development programs and plans is still slow and the quality of a number of urban areas is still limited in the following criteria: Urban greenery, public works, traffic hubs, waste treatment, population scale, population density...
As a result, the rate of urbanization in the province has so far reached 34.5%; urban areas are not up to the standards according to the plan of the provincial urban development program by 2020.
At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing the solutions to accelerate the implementation of urban development programs and plans for each locality and province.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui The Cu requested departments and localities to base on the list of investment projects approved by competent authorities to perform and ensure the schedule and quality, and particularly interested in the ones on urban infrastructure.
The Department of Planning and Investment coordinates with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee to arrange and allocate the capital reasonably for localities to implement the urban development program. Localities that have not yet developed the urban development programs should urgently develop the programs till 2030 and the plans by 2020.
Districts and city review and add eligible communes to the urban development program by 2020. Localities should focus on mobilizing resources to complete and enhance the urban criteria in order to attain the targets and plans of the provincial urban development program by 2020.
