According to the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, after 10 years of implementing the National Target Program to build new rural areas, the country has gained important achievements in all aspects of the socio-economic life in the rural area, especially the environment.

As of June, 2019, there are 56.69% of rural households using clean water up to standard; the rate of rural solid waste collection averages 40 - 55%. Over 88% of industrial parks and processing zones have centralized wastewater treatment systems meeting environmentally technical standards.

By the end of July, 2019, there are 5,443 communes meeting environmental criteria in building new rural areas; 84 district-level units were recognized to complete the task of developing new rural areas, meeting the new rural standards.

Some key tasks set out in environmental protection in the new rural area construction after 2020 are to constantly improve and raise the quality of rural environment; preserve the traditional rural landscape along with the formation of "livable countryside", balance the production development with maintaining quality and preserving the landscape values ​​of the environment...

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui The Cu, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, affirmed: With the determination and efforts of the entire political system, promoting the spirit of community, creativity and the enthusiasm response of people, the new rural area construction in the province has achieved many positive and breakthrough results, especially the environmental criteria.

The rate of collection and treatment of domestic waste of Hung Yen is about 76%. 100% of communes have waste gathering or landfill sites. 70% of production, business, service establishments and trade villages have waste treatment facilities...

The results of implementing environmental criteria in the new rural areas construction have contributed to changing the appearance of rural areas, improving the quality of life of people in rural areas, thereby contributing positively to the overall achievement in building new rural areas of the province such as: 100% of communes in the province are recognized as meeting the new rural standards; 4/10 districts, towns and cities are recognized as meeting the new rural standards and completed the new rural area construction task. It is expected that by the end of 2019, there are 10 communes completing the criteria of new rural communes...

At the conference, the participants clarified the results and achievements as well as difficulties in implementing and sustaining the environmental criteria in the new rural area construction.

Speaking at the conference conclusion, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan suggested that, from now until the end of 2020 and with the orientations after 2020, ministries, branches and localities should focus on key issues to achieve and sustainably maintain environmental criteria in the new rural areas construction such as: To consolidate and improve the quality of criteria for truly sustainable; investigate and evaluate in detail the criteria of environmental criteria, develop a complete and detailed data set in the rural environment picture in 2020; the People's Committees of provinces and cities consider and approve specific plans in rural solid waste management, approach the principle of "circulating economy" in collecting, recycling and reusing wastes; formulate and carry out rural wastewater management plan; maximize the existing mechanisms and policies to encourage businesses to invest in waste treatment; continue drastically and persistently in landscape construction, hygiene and environmental protection; empower more localities and promote fully the role of community and people in environmental protection ... 

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals were commended and rewarded by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for their outstanding achievements in implementing the environmental criteria in the new rural area construction, in the period 2010-2020.
