On February 26 (On January 11 of the lunar calendar 2018), at Phu Ung Temple historical-cultural monument, Phu Ung commune (An Thi), a ceremony was held to commemorate the 743th anniversary of the day of General Pham Ngu Lao beginning the fight against the enemy to protect the country and open Phu Ung Temple Festival.
The incenses offering witnessed the attendance of Mr. Do Tien Sy, Member of the Central Party Committee, Provincial Party Secretary, Head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly; Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Party Secretary, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, members in the Provincial Standing Committee; leaders of a number of departments, agencies, socio-political organizations of the province, districts and city with a large number of people and tourists.

At the incenses offering ceremony, delegates, people and visitors reviewed the history of the life and career of General Pham Ngu Lao.
Pham Ngu Lao, who was trusted by the Confederacy of Tran Hung Dao, was excellent at both literature and martial arts. He was a General in three Tran dynasty's kings, who contributed greatly in the fight against foreign invaders of the people and the one to protect the western and southern borders of the country.
After he died, he was named "The Goddess" and his temple was built on the former platform of his family’s house by Phu Ung villagers. In 1988, Phu Ung Temple worshipping General Pham Ngu Lao was recognized as a national historical-cultural monument.
Every year, the traditional festival of Phu Ung Temple is held solemnly from January 11 to 13, attracting a large number of people in the province and visitors, which is one of the major festivals in cultural activities and spring festival of the province.
This year, in the days of the festival, besides the solemn and traditional activities, it also includes folk games, cultural and sports activities such as Chess, cock fighting, puppetry, tug of war, Quan ho singing, calligraphy in the spring and wrestling..., which attract a lot of visitors to see and participate.
